Scottish Felsite

Scottish Felsite has been sourced from quarries and quarry clusters in several different parts of Scotland. The stone comes from dykes and other small intrusions that formed at different times in the geological history of Scotland. The stone was not affected by the Caledonian Orogeny (i.e. it is not deformed). Scottish Felsite was probably used locally, mainly to form masonry. Scottish Felsite is not quarried for building stone today.
